Breeding set up. Should this work?

It was wise of you not to remove the divider. With a female much larger than the male, she can do some damage or worse. Wow!!! that's a lot of eggs.

Suggestion for your next spawn if your method did not work out...place a clay plate underneath the divider so that half is on each side and the divider is low enough that they can't get at each other. Also, have the water current flow from the male's side to the female's. I've had success with overly aggressive pairs using this method. Good luck!

that's great advice.

but if this pair arent a pair that want to breed with each other, it wont work. Breeding would be them nsync with each other in the breeding mood

She can lay eggs but he's just swimming up/down the divider is not breeding.

and that is a very cool big female. Very cool. I like that kind of FHs
