Well, my favorite O just died, jumped out of the his 55 gallon tank.
So now I have yet another leftover tank, cycled and nothing in it.
I have a turqoise sev in a 20 gallon at the moment, currently 3 inches.
I love the little guy, and was wondering how to breed them. I was thinking of going back to my lfs and picking up 3 more, in hopes I'll get at least get one pair. size is a bit small, smallest there being one 1 inch, biggest 3 inches.
Do you think they can pair of at this size?

I've typically found severums aren't mature (i.e. can't form a pair) until they are a little bigger. I've got two small severums now, which I think are different sexes, and they have no interest in each other. But best way to go is how you mentioned...buying a few more from your LFS and hoping you'll end up with a pair. I tried that with my first severums, and I ended up with two females because they killed the one male I had. I'm hoping I'll have better luck this time around. :-) I'm sure you'll do fine though. Good luck and hope this helps!

my severums did not breed until about 6 inches for the female and 7 inches for the male. I bought them at same time but around 4 inches you could tell they were a pair by playful chasing.
