breeding signs of JDs

I have a male and female jack dempseys and they are in a 50g with 1 small RD and 2 convicts. I was wondering what their breeding signs are.

They will turn all black and start cleaning the rocks, pot, sand, or wherever they want to breed at.

ok cause my male is looking a little darker than usual and sometimes the male chases the female around

Sounds like the male may be ready to breed but the female isn't.

How big is the male and female. I have a 6 inch jack and a 4/5 inch female. They pretty much find an area where its safe then dig a ditch next to the rock they lay eggs on, and the ditch is a nest pretty much. Feeding them things like frozen krill and nightcrawlers will boost there urg to breed. Mine took over 5 months to pair up and i just left them alone and they got it done.

oh no i didnt sry for the misunderstanding but i misunderstood you in one of my other threads but i havent got rid of anything and i have been feeding them frozen bloodworms will this boost there urge?

I feed mine market shrimp, pellets and change the water weekly and they breed all the time. I have Blues, Golds and regular looking jacks. I feel the key is getting the female fatten up with eggs. She needs lots of food and fresh water.
