Breeding size for chocolate chiclid

I know several of you guys are or have bread choclates. I got mine a few months ago and they have already hatched a batch of fry. My question is at what size did yours start laying ? Mine are only in the 4-5" range. This seems small to me. However I do not know how old they are the LFS I got them at had a large tank full of them. I suspect he had them for quite awhile.

Any thoughts ???

that's about when mine spawned for the first time too, the male was the small one, pretty small still too, at 4.5-5", the female was a bit bigger. prob 6" these are guestimates though

Well that makes me feel a little better I was worried they may have been stunted

And mine are the same the male is a little smaller than she is.
