I've got an 11 1/2" P14 female that I'd like to breed with my BDLeo male. The problem is he's much larger around 19" and can get quite rough with my big Leo momma. At what size do you think I should dare try putting the P14 with him? I'd have to guess to tell you her age. I'm guessing 2 years give or take some months. I know his claspers look like they won't fit lol, he's a hung dude.

I was thinking since P14 are somewhat considered smaller than P13 maybe she could be ready at a smaller size than the P13. Is there a certain size I would wait until she reaches? I was planning on letting him loose on her around thanksgiving or new years. Was hoping to make an attempt this year. What do you think? Sooner? Later?

This is the young girl with some pups from another pair

I'm my honest opinion p14 are not as fertile as other black rays

I have had male Leo's beat the hell out of female p14 and they just never give in

It's not the size of a ray that determines breeding it's the age
They need to be 2.5 years old with p14

I haven't had much luck with male Leo breeding with female p14 yet just the opposite way round but I'm trying now

This was my last attempt the male Leo best the hell out of her but she never gave in
You need to let it roll and only step in if she stops feeding or it will never happen and people panic far to soon in my eyes

It's not true that p14 stay smaller if anything they get bigger than p13

Thanks for the input T1. I know and don't panic when females get beat while breeding. It happens I've come to realize. My questions is did you female lose her perimeter spotting from the damage?

Maybe I'll have better luck because I know your female is very large. With mine being smaller maybe the male can flip her easier and get her to give in because of the size difference once she's ready. Just a thought.

The spots returned fine and no white scare marks

It does take a long time to heal fully 6-8 months

To be fair some p14 just get bigger like with any ray the more heavy spotted females seam to get bigger than the more traditional p14 another sign is tail length longer tail p14 seam to grow bigger

If you have a mature Leo in the tank the male will probably be more interested in her

My male p14 done this to a Leo when she first went in but after her found he wasn't getting what he wants he left her alone for 18 months

He's still a stunner, kind of reminds me of my boy.
