Anyone have experience with this? I read oddballer's account as posted by Anne. I've been having trouble locating any "scientific" accounts online. (Nature has an article from the 1930s that I'd like to read, but access is limited to subscribers or internet users with academic access. If anyone can access this and send it to me as a pdf, I'd really appreciate it.)
This is more of a 'down the road' project, as I'm only looking into picking up one or two 8 inchers in the next week or two. (Another problem is with sexing them.)
I planned on getting them 24+ inches then moving them to a large kiddie pool (a la oddballer) then simulating a rainy season. Any input? Substrate choice for the pool? I was hoping to go with sand since it'd be a bit easier to work with than river mud, but I'm unsure if these conditions are close enough to natural ones.
