Breeding Suggestions

What up everyone! I just need a few suggestions/inputs. I currently have a 300g setup and i'd like to start breeding cichlids again but i dont know which ones.

Here's what i have:

9" Male Black Belt
8" Male Bocourti
6" Pearsi sex unknown
5" Male Freddy
5" Male Loisellei
5" Male Carpinte "Escondido"
Group of 4 Yo-Yo Botia 3"-4"
3" angelica loach
2" Zebra Loach
2" Rubber Lipped Pleco
3" Pictus Cat
2" Nicarguense
2" Red Tiger Moto


I know i'd have to get rid of a few of these guys to cut down on the aggression during spawning. But which should i keep and find mates for. I was hoping to be able to have at least 2 breeding pair of cichlids in the 300g.

Are any of those pairs? I take it you have all single fish? Are you planning to do a hybrid tank? Anyway i would breed the Bocourti or the Loiselli if i were going to start a breeding project but I'm not sure what your intentions are.

Yeah, they're all single fish. I dont wanna do a hybrid tank. I'm just really trying to decide which fish to keep and find a mate to breed with. I think the bocourti is def a keeper though. But i need to decide which other one to keep.

thats a good idea. I wouldn't do a hydrid tank either. I say find a hot little female Bocourti and make some Bocourti babies but then again any of those fish would be good fish to breed so good luck.

I would look around for local breeders who distribute and see what they would be weillign to buy from you. For many of us breeding projects are a ton of fun but shipping projects are a headache and an unwanted hassle. If that sonuds like you then find someone else who is already doing the advertising/shipping part and unload fry on them. They will be much better at advising you on what will likely sell than any of us could...

I guess i can get with a few lfs around town and see what they'd be interested in. So lets say i stick with the Bocourti to breed, you guys think i could squeeze another pair(CA/SA) in there with them?
