Many African cichlid keepers have said that a water change that puts the temperature maybe 3 degrees F cooler than normal will initiate spawning. The heater will soon bring the temperature up to where it belongs. I have tried that. There might be something to it or maybe just coincidence. I don't know about other cichlids.

No I have heard that too.. because the cooler water resembled spring showers or something along those lines
