I am about to try to reintroduce my male with my female in a separate 25 gal. to try and get them to breed. The male was really nipping her to death so I had to separate to get her to heal. I found out I should have plenty of females but I only have one and so I am trying to breed some.Any tips on getting them to breed would be appreciated, Thanks.

Can anyone tell me how fish act when they are spawning. My Guinacara have been reintroduced with one another and are uncontrollably locking lips and circling each other. Is this part of spawning or are they fighting?

I have a group of 5 in a 125 with some Geophagus and have never observed any aggression towards each other....not even nipped fins

Mine picked a spot between 2 rocks and dug out a cave area....spawned on a rock...about 200 eggs

Both male and female took care off the fry....great parents

I didn't do anything special to get mine to spawn.. Just fed them good, tank mates were retroculus and geophagus. Temp was about 84*F and ph 6.0-6.4. Mine spawned on the back of a piece of driftwood. Eggs were olive green. Pretty cool fish.

They were in a 125 until he started nipping her terribly, so I had to separate her until she healed up. Now she is in a 25 gal by herself.
Doesn't sound like spawning behavior....mine have paired off again and are digging another cave

What size tank are they in??

I have re introduced the male and alot of circling going on and she appears to be making a bed, so hopefully it will happen. Iam all new to this and was wondering how long after spawning will you see eggs? And also should I remove the male when I see eggs?

Female will lay eggs on a flat surface and then male will fertilize them...I wouldn't separate them unless the female starts beating on him
