option 1: I was planning on breeding marbled crayfish to supply food to my upcomin mantis shrimp. And i was wonderin if the marbled crayfish wld still clone herself and not have all the fry eaten if i put a peacock eel in the tank. The tank size wld be a 30 gallon with a air filter and hangin filter.

Option 2: could i put 5 male and 5 female guppies in a 30 gallon with the peacock eel. And still have engh fry survive to feed them to a mantis shrimp?

Basically i want a peacock eel in my 30 gallon but i want to be able to breed something to feed a mantis shrimp. And i wld also feed the shrimp shrimp from wal mart.

Just thought of this but option 3: Cld i get a fast multiplying snail breed them in the 30 gallon and feed them to the mantis shrimp? because i knw feeding crustations or snails to them is rlly good.

P.S. No matter wht i will be feeding them some shrimp without any perservatives or chemicals.

I am lookin for best option here and the least amount of cost but still gettin a peacock eel.

Wht is everyons ideas? and if there is a snail that breeds fast and grow fast let me knw. And ifi cld grow them out in a 5 gallon bucket that wld be even better. I knw i wld have to do daily water changes to the snails if i keep them in buckets too

Ok, but i dont wanna breed crayfish and i dont wanna get a 10 gallon for fry. So i am rlly looking for a live bearer. Or guppies that breed and fry can stay in the tank...

Sounds like you already know what you want to do. Guppies will eat their fry, so just use a net breeder for the fry, until they are big enough to not get eaten by the parents.

What is a net breeder? and wld they still breed ok with the peacock eel in the tank?

R guppies a good food source. I wont feed him all guppies ill feed him shrimp too like frozen shrimp with no chemical at wal mart its like 3$. Also still wanting to knw what a net breeder was and if they wld still breed with a peacock eel in the tank?

In my opinion, it's not worth breeding guppies to feed to your mantis shrimp. They don't always accept live fish, maybe dead. I'd just buy a pack of silversides. Breeding marble crays would be a good idea. But to get a good cycle would take several months. If not up to a year. I think it'll be much easier for you to feed your mantis shrimp frozen foods. Mantis shrimp only need to eat maybe once a week...don't over do it.

Also...don't get too into this. Mantis shrimp don't come out very often when given hiding places. Just warning you, cause it's the same reason why I got rid of mine. It never really came out. And I got bored of it.

Go to google images and search "net breeder" Im sure you'll recognize them. If you really want to get serious about breeding it's usually best not to have tankmates. I'm not saying it can't be done, but you might end up breeding feeders for just the eel!
