breeding tube Q

i don't really get the whole breeding tube thing. When do they stick out. Also can you sex a fish on what their breeding tubes look like? The reason i ask is because i was just looking at my 2 FMs and they had just been fed a lot. Ive read this can make them stick out. IDK, if they can be sexed in this way, tell me how please. Thanks, or just tell me about them . Thanks, Drew

P.S. im not sure on the sex of my FMs or if they are a pair, this is mostly the reson behind my question.

if their breeding tubes are down, then they are probably a pair. You unfortunately can't really sex just by looking a t the breeding tube. They stick out when they are in the mood, but that isn't a guarantee that they will breed. Mine have had their breeding tubes down for almost a month now, but no eggs have been laid

cool thanks hope they breed, they are now getting of age, 3" and 2.5". any more input is welcome.
