I believe I have a pair a Venezuela Pike. They have been paired up since they were 3-4 inches, now they are about 9 inches and I think they are beginning to breed. I noticed a change in color and one has tanken to digging up the fine rock I have as my substrate with his mouth, he/she has cleared out a 5 in. x 5in. area. If anyone has any info let me know.

Please post pictures, I am thinking they are one of the Boullengerellas, either latistriaga or maculatus, the striped only get to slightly over 10" and the spotted to 13", both are caught in Venezuela, either could breed at 9"if they follow the pattern for others of the larger characins. I hope you are right, keep an eye on them and get pictures and notes as neither type have been recorded spawning in aquaria. Please record temp. ph. food, etc. here are pics of the ones I am thinking of.

I'll keep you guys informed if it's good news.
