ok the eggs were laid about three and half days ago. I was expecting to wake up this morning and see hatched eggs with fry swimming. I don't really see anything. Looks like all of a sudden last night all the egs died or something??? They were always yellow except a few were white, which I assumed is fairly normal for a few to die. I looked this morning and there is a lot of white ones and looks like mold is growing on top or osmething. Plus a lot of the eggs seem to be just gone??? The mother all morning has been picking at her eggs, looks like shes eating them off the rocks or something??? could they have hatched and be hiding somewhere?? or did they just die so the mother is eating them and getting ready to go again?? can you see the fry the first day they hatch??

Nothing is more disappointing then not being able to find the wrigglers. They are probaly in another pit or hide area the parents usually do this. Another more tragic twist especially if this is the 1st breeding is they may eat the wrigglers. Wait about 5-7 days when the fry become free swimming.

my convicts did this too. it was there first time breeding cuz it was a random pair. i saw eggs. i saw wigglers after they hatched. then poof, everyone was gone. few days later i see them swimming all over the place, the parents keep moving them around when they feel the young are unsafe.

ahhhh I see, smart buggers, so should I follow with water changes because today is my water change day

I would wait personally on the wc until you know where they are. If you are talking about the jags that you have in your sig then I am sure you will be perfectly fine stretching it a couple days. Your tanks seem very lightly stocked.

hey chad ya I like to keep them all lightly stocked, it just makes my life and my hobby a lot more enjoyable. Every sunday I do about 25 to 30 percent wc and I'm laughing. Never had to worry about nitrates.
