i have two 3 1/2 in oscars that have bin together since i bought them in a 10 gal tank i resontly transfered them to a 46 gal with a 4 in long clown knifefish and since i put them in they have started rubbing and they are in seperable. i am wondering if anyone could help me with questions on breeding them . i have looked online but can not find anywhere with suffishnt info. i would love to breed them and would appritiate any help as to how i can get them to breed and what to do durring the whole prosess. if anyone can help me iether msg me on hear or u can get me at duke_frigon@hotmail.com thank u.

ok there still juvi, between 1.5-2years to be sexually mature,
2nd tanks to small even for one 55usg minimum<there will be war
3rd knifefish not good to be in there if you want to breed,,,
get a much bigger tank mate,,,,quivering/lip locking<fighting>digging and cleaning rocks together is a a sign<mines been doing this for 6months<just over a year old the pair,,,

k i just got started with fish and it has become a great hobby but im not rich lol if i take out spot (my knifefish) and put him in my 40 gal toleave them alone would they mate?? my oher prob is that char and cat (my oscars) get along verry well with spot ,i meen at first there was some squabling but they all have proven to each other they will not take eachothers crap lol.and now they can swim beside eachother and not care and they do not fight at feeding time . i think its all because i give them so much attention i play catch w them and pet them also i hand feed cat and char most the time (spot is still a little timmid around me as he is a middle/bottom dwller )..

thank u again for ur help any additional help would b cool to . also do u know anything bout feeding clown knifefish the pet store owner is a f$#king idiot and could not tell me a thing bout them so i have bin doing alot of reaserch

ya eventually i plan on getting bigger one but low on funds thish should do for a while shouldent it?? i see pics of ther oscars on sites and they are healthy and in way smaller tanks

if your looking to have some breeding fun,,,,try rehoming the oscars<until you can afford a bigger tank,,,,,then go for some convicts<just add water and watch them multiply

To give you an idea on size, I have a oscar i bought in august 07 at 2 1/2 inches and he is now around 9 inches times that by two and you can see why everyone is saying you need a bigger tank. 90g minimum would be a good bet.
