I am trying to breed my piranhas and I need some suggestions. I have 9 Red Belly Piranhas, they are approximatley 5 inches and for now are in a 75 gallon tank. Please give your input or some suggestions.

lol you know the people r gonna say 9 in a 75!!!!!lol. i also wanna know if i have female or male P's how can i tell? i have 5 in a 90. mine are 3-5 inches

haha dont worry they are not staying in there for life.

from what ive heard u need a very large tank
mabey like 150 or 200 around
and u are only supposed to have a male and female per tank
thats all i no
but it normally just happens over time

The best thing to do is give them a bigger tank say a 180. Piranha pair off and spawn and protect there eggs so they will need a large tank so they can split off from the rest.

To condition them feed them well on lots of meaty foods like mussle, prawn, whitebait etc... and give them plenty of wood and plant cover. Id keep the water soft say a PH of 6.5. And you should be fine.

Where i work we had a pair of RBP in a 30" at " that would spawn most days, a greta fish to breed.
