bloggi1 074.JPGbloggi1 072.JPGI have a pair of jack dempsey. The male is 8" and the female is 7". Im trying to breed them in hope i can get some electric blue's. She is a blue gene and the male is a reagular dempsey. I have done water change, I try feeding them all sort of high protein food, but nothing. they been together for over a year. Now the Female has gotten very aggresive every morning when I get up the male is all the way on top corner of the tank. The female pushing him around they lip lock and then he stops and show no interest in mating. Any advise would be helpful. thank you. :irked:

They aren't a pair. Did you just put the two together or let them pair on their own.

She becoming aggressive cause she wants to pair and spawn but he isn't attracted to her.

I think you will not get any EB's only normals and 25 percent EBG and it is hard to tell them apart. Go find a large EB and breed him to her you will then get 50/50 split of EB's and EBG. When you find anEB male try adding a good dose of salt to your tank it worked for us. Our tank was a 65 gal. and my wife added a cup of salt and they spawned with in a week. You will likly lose a lot of your Eb;s as they geneticaly week but don't get discouraged.Good luck.

That's correct Wild Bill, a Normal x a BG = 50% Normal and 50% BG. AND you will have no way to tell which are normal and which are blue gene so you can not sell any of them as BG honestly unless you test mate them to a full EB first.
