I was at home depot and in the gardening/landscaping area and saw these decorative bricks of many colors, shapes and sizes. Anyways I am wondering if anyone has tried this in their tank? Building a small brick wall with spaces so fish can swim through like caves. I posted pics i took so you can see which I mean and the info sheet on them to see if they could be harmful to fish or the water?
thanks

I use these in my 300 gallon rubbermaid above ground pond... This serves as my turtles' summer home, but during the winter, I stock it with rosy reds, guppies, and a few comets. I buy 12¢ comets in the hopes that 1 or 2 will be koi, lol.

I haven't noticed any weird water chemistry as a result of the "bricks".

Could possibly lower the PH or leach chemicals into the water. I have seen fish stores with cinder blocks holding down driftwood. How long have you had the stock tank set up with the bricks?

Either coming up or past the 1 year mark.

Watch the pH in your tank. Sometimes chemicals used in concrete to increase strength or longevity can leach out if submerged. This can raise your pH in a hurry. Just watch your params and you'll be fine.

Yeah I could only image what chemicals they mix up in those brick tiles so be on top of your water params!

Well I guess if you stack them evenly across your whole tank and not put too much in one spot so there won’t be stress in one area of the tank you should be ok, they weigh a good amount but shouldn’t break your tank unless your stacking them in one area just my .02 cents!

Eggcrate the bottom of tanks with rocks etc.

If it has been past a year with no adverse affects then it seems benign for the short term. Although I have always used natural rock and been happy.
