Hello
I am curious if anyone of you ever used bricks in their tank as decor?
I seen today some nice bricks at work , yellow and brown with 3 holes in each made from clay. . It can look really nice in tank with enough hidings for fish.
I work for gen contractor so i can have lots of them .
If no one used them how should i check if they are safe ?
maybe put them into bucket for couple days and check parms?
any help will be appreciated

thanks luke

You should be fine. I'm pretty sure I've seen it done in Rift Lake cichlid tanks before. Definately soak it for a week or so and check parameters though. Also I've heard that you can pour a bit of vinegar on a stone/rock/brick whatever and if it fizzes at all its not aquarium safe.

agreed :iagree:

But for faster results I just use pH down since its a stronger acid instead of vinegar, but either have worked for me in the past.

thank you guys for test with vinegar or ph down ;) definitely ill try it next day at work
i will post pictures . tho
i got some juvies and should get more juvies soon so i will need some extra hiding spaces.
is there anyting else i can test to prove bricks are aquarium safe?

And just be careful how you set it up so that it doesn't fall loose for some reason and smack down cause a crack or other damage to your tank bottom. Post pics when you get it setup.
