My parents want to upgrade cameras but they don't want to spend a lot of money on a dslr. I want to make sure that whatever camera they get is suitible for taking awesome pictures of my fish. I was wondering how good bridge cameras are compared to dslr's in terms of picture quality. I basically want a camera that will take good pictures of fish and general all round photos. Video doesn't really matter because I already have a gopro.

Does anyone use bridge cameras and if so any pics?

Here is some cameras that I've been looking at. I would like some advice on which one is best for my needs. Also feel free to recommend any other cameras.
[h=2]Fujifilm FinePix S4300[/h]-Seems like a good all round camera

Olympus SP-620U

- Also seems like a pretty decent camera but the price is really low, not sure if that means bad quality

Olympus SP-815UZ

- Same camera as above but less mega pixels and more zoom?????

Nikon COOLPIX L810

-More expensive than the others....is it worth the extra money?

My brother has a d3100 and its a good camera. I've got a d5000 and as a person who only fiddles around with photography for kicks and something to do I cant tell any different. They both take fine pictures of fish and its mostly about the person taking the picture and method used then the camera.

Vr stands for vibration reduction... Not really sure what ed on the other camera is but Im pretty positive it has to do with helping when the camera is shaking... D3100 is a great camera for entry level. And takes great pictures.. Get a tri pod works wonders when taking pictures of fish.

Nooooo olympus or fuji film they suck....picture quality has nothing to do with megapixels. It has to do with the lenses... The sensor.. Etc
Megapixels is just so you can enlarge the picture to a ridiculous size and keep the clarity...
If you stick to nikon or canon.. You will be happy.
You have a price range?

Since it seems like I'm going with a dslr $300-400, but I would like to keep it closer to $300. Also willing to buy a used camera.

So my parents found some of my aunts old photo stuff. I now have Canon eos elan film camera body, a canon EF 28-80mm lens, and canon EF 100-300mm lens. My mom says that these lenses will work with a newer dslr. Is this true? If so what camera body(s) are compatible with these lenses? Will I be able to have auto focus and video?
