Well, the past few weeks have been kinda hectic in my tank. First off, two weeks ago was it? i received 4 beautiful adult archocentrus (herotilapia, whatever your preference is) multispinosa from Reiner, who by the way was wonderful to do business with. From the group there are 3 males and 1 female. I also took another step in making this a CA tank only by using the DIY fish trap model with the water bottle and what not: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/fish_trap.php to capture the bottom dwelling fish including the chinese algae eater, the red tail-sand loach, and the yoyo loach. I left the cory because he's much easier to catch if i need to. BTW, if you are interested in any of these to PU they're all free except for the red-tail sand loach, that one was worth a little bit of cash.

So the big news: within 2 weeks and a weekend of negligence due to my 3rd trip to Mammoth Mt this season, Reiner's multispinosa have spawned. As you can see in my video, the female and the largest male have dug a huge pit in the cave to the left and just today have spawned eggs!!! I can see them with my own eyes (they weren't there last night when i was taking pictures). Also, today, the male got his breeding colors, whereas the female had them when I got back home yesterday. Both have been gaurding the cave nonstop, only pausing briefly to snatch up the spirulina pellets i bought from Mel-co on ebay. So yea, basically, everything is going well, I just need to do some maintenance on the tank like a W/C and scrub the glass, but I don't want to disturb anything right now as this is my very first spawn with fish!!! I got these cichlids to spawn and could never get the pair of swordtails or guppies to breed. INO, sad...

Well, here are some pictures and a brief video. Please comment =D :feedback:

Nice color on those multispinosa. How's their aggression? I have one at 3" and he is a total jerk.

Nope, no aggression at all that i've seen. The only aggression is the couple gaurding their eggs, but its mainly just nudges and flaring that they do, no nipping of the fins or eyes. The aggressive one was the chinese algae eater, he was too territorial so that's why I'm giving him away.

Thanks, I'm trying to make it a multi only tank with maybe a pair of swordtails. And since my pair aren't breeding, I think i'm going to have to find a place for them too, the male has an excellent tail BTW and IMO, with proper care and feeding, could be a show fish (just MO), so he won't be just for free. Once I clear out my unnecessary stock, I'll start hunting aquabid for a nice pair that would be native to Central America and fit in the CA themed tank.

Hey Matt I just found this thread. I'm glad to see that the fish are doing really good in your care. The tank looks great as well.
