I will be putting together a fish store search and rating website as part of an independent study for my MBA.

It will consist of a google-map interface to search for fish stores in your area, as well as a review tool to rate your LFS on certain criteria. I always see threads about good or bad fish stores, so here's your chance to let the public know your experiences! I hope this will be a really useful tool for the entire fishkeeping community.

Yeah guys, I am working on it.

3 credits of my MBA are riding on the project, so it has to be done by the end of the semester - December 8th.

In the link above I posted a little forum I put together strictly to discuss this project.

I've posted all the relevant questions I was able to think of. What I'm really looking for is people to look at the initial design, read through some of the issues, and let me know what they think.

After all, it's going to be a website for fishkeepers... so it would be great if I could get some feedback rather than diving in headfirst without anything but my own ideas.

In a brief discussion on loaches.com I already had a number of great ideas come up. That thread was getting long, and too disorganized, so thats why I created this new forum.


Anyway, if you are interested in the project, please check it out and contribute some ideas or opinions!

Well... the project has already been approved, and I've already put a lot of thought into this.

The best answer to "that already exists" I can give is that I'm going to do it better.

Way better, by the looks of that website.

Key differences:

1) My site will be totally international vs USA only
2) My users will be able to add their fish stores, whereas on this site you need to email the site admin to get a store added.
3) My site will use a google map interface instead of reviews by state

If you checkout my mockup above I think you'll see a lot of other features and/or potential as well.

But this is the kind of feedback/information I'm looking for. I will note this in my forum.

It's going to become impossible for me to continue checking threads on 6 different fish forums, so I hope some of you will come over and post your thoughts!
