Hi,

I have decided to start growing some brine shrip to feed to my fish. From what I have read on the net the eggs need to be kept in constant motion with an air stone.

Does anyone if the airstone should be removed once the shrimp have hatched? I would ideally like to grow the shrip to adulthood before adding them to my aquarium.

Your adivice will be appreciated.

Regards,

Justin

Not true, I have hatched brine shrimp without a air stone.

You get a better hatch rate with a stone. I would keep the stone going even after the hatch, not running at full capacity though- a slower current would be better for grow out.

Yep...I can hatch brine shrimpe easily by putting their water in a small plastic bowl.
But an airstone increases the hatch rate.

How fast do they grow out so they make good food?

Depends how large you want them and what you're feeding. My full grown platies take baby brine shrimp when they get through the mesh of the breeder pen that my guppy fry are in.
