I know this is probably a no, but just wanted to get second opinions.

I had an amazon sword plant in my 150 a while ago. Long story short the leaves were eaten and the plant “disappeared” into the substrate.

The picture is what was found when my green sunfish dug up its nest and unearthed this again

Is there a small chance of bringing it back?

Normally I would say no, but recently I had a tree fern that looked dead and I put it in a terrarium. It didn’t grow back leaves for months until one day it started getting leaves again. Now the plant is growing again and looks even better than before.

The roots don’t look too good, but it feels and looks like the crown is still intact

Tbh don't know if Amazon Sword plant will come back like that. Personally have Anubias and Java Fern come back when they looked dead.

Hello; Clear away the clearly decayed and rotten stuff to see if any firm parts remain. If all soft and rotten then it is dead-dead. If any firm material remains then plant that and see what happens.

It was underwater. Should I try submerged or emersed? I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try? It’s crown isn’t soft, but most of the other parts are

I was cleaning it off and I noticed that some roots look live or at least newer. I’m going to put it in reptisoil (as this is the only soil I have right now) and put it in a plastic container with water. Should I put it in light or keep it in low/no light at first? Any other things I should add? Root tabs?

I’m not adding the soil back to the tank later, but into my paludarium. My amazon sword will probably go into my 33 gallon after it grows back (hopefully)

Hello; Light on say 12 hours and off 12 hours.
See no need for "reptisoil" whatever that is. At first just some sand or gravel.
If any thing sprouts then add some sort of root tab plant nutrient and maybe longer light period.
I grow swords in gravel and add some sort of root tab at the roots from time to time.

Hello; If the latest picture is before you cleaned away the rotten stuff then it looks to need more stuff removed. If it is after said cleaning then looks like a lot of dead stuff still there.
