A good customer of mine just traded in a 9.25"( just measured her) poly and I need help with ID. If some one could post some clear pics of the various palmas, retropinnis, mokelembe(SP?), etc... it would be a great help. She is definitely not a senegal, but IS an upper jaw species. Beautiful yellow fins and greenish body with almost tiger like stripes when viewed from the top ( not a delhezi by the way).

are the dorsal tiger like stripes relatively thin? kinda like a herringbone pattern? (as below with the head of the fish to the left)

here are some pics i posted before. first three are palmas buettikoferi (the last one is actually quite an anomaly as i haven't seen another one with its color. the first two pics are what they typically look like). last three pics are retropinnis aka zaire green.

your description doesn't seem to match mokelembembe. Maybe its a very pretty weeksii? although they wouldn't have the yellow fins (pectorals?), but can have greenish tint on the body and do have tiger like stripes like a delhezi

any chance you can get a pic?

She doesn't really match any of the pics, but is close to the first one. It's so hard to tell! I will try to post some pics tonight but my photography skills kinda suck. Anybody have any weeksi pics?

fyi the pic elykyelsna posted is now called mokelembembe (used to be called retro though), and yeah they can have green on the body, but i haven't seen one with yellow fins or 'tiger stripes'. also to add, the retropinnis (zaire green) don't really have 'tiger stripes' either.

i know you said it's not delhezi, but can it be a very pretty del? they can have yellow pectorals as well as green on the body.

for pic of weeksii, go to the new sticky 'visual reference' anne posted. theres a pic of a typical weeksii in there. they have very wide big head. is that a feature you saw in your fish?

I think I'll have to go with weeksii until I can get some pics and a positive ID. It really looks like a weeksii. Definitely not a del. Thanks all for the help and pics so far.

here's another retropinnis that's pretty green

Is that photoshopped? That is really green! Amazing!

some mokelembembe can have green tint especially on the back and head. It is very uncommon for one to have a lot of green, but it definitely is possible, so it may well be its real color. heres mine, no enhancement done to the pics.

(sorry for the ordering. its putting all the thumbnails first)
