While I gather that most members here are from the US/UK, I know that there are a few others from South East Asian countries, but am not too sure if they are still active on this forum.

With regards to countries such as Indonesia, Thailand and Hong Kong, do they require any sort of paperwork/permit for a tourist to get their fish through local airport customs? I've always wanted to be able to access their wide and stunning selection of fishes which I can't normally get

I am in Thailand. Many fish are definitely restricted in export.

But there is a tremendous industry in fish export. So if you were to come to Thailand, I would look for a fish exporter, not just to do the paperwork, but the logistics as well.

I would imagine Indonesia is the same.

I'm definitely not looking into CITES restricted species, but more of local catfishes such as juvenile hemiarius stormii and cephalocassis sp, hopefully that won't be covered under the restricted list in Thailand. I was thinking along the lines of whether I would be permitted as a hobbyist to take home a few fish as checked baggage, and not in terms of a large export order for commercial purposes. Do the fishes need a permit or some sort of health certificate in this instance?
