hey i have just bought my first lot of baby cichla, does anyone have any suggestions on what to feed them etc and how to make them grow in to some big healty fish, i am new to fish keeping and have always loved the pbass,
anyhelp would be great

if they are small juvies....7in under. Make sure your temp is at 87 and you have an airstone in their. Try and get them off live asap. Live tubifex worms are a better alternative to feeders if they are clean. But your better off trying to get them onto pellets. Start w/ frozen blood worms. As they eat those start adding crushed pellets into the mix. SImply thaw the bloodworms in a little dish and add some crushed pellets in w/ them. Over time start upping the amount of pellets you add to the mix. Eventually they should be eating crushed pellets.

Do you have any other fish in w/ the sm. cichla? Dithers....or more small fish that wont harm the cichla are good to have in w/ them. Especially if they eat pellets already. THese are like teacher fish. Hopefully the cichla will see them eating pellets and follow suit.

agreed. dont bother about feeding live feeders from start. they are esaily adepted.

i have problem getting them on pellets at 6" lol... wont even bother chewing them...

i dump my small 2" when i got them into a 280 us gallon tank....
now their 6".. w/o airstone lol.. well im using a flowin sump tank.. oxygen is oxygenize at the sump when the water rush into the sump rapidly from overflow... so yea

thinkin of giving them up... thinking of keeping RTG from QH farm :))
