The Crunch
G'day. A quick question, i have 3 bristlenoses two males and one larger female. All have coexisted peacefully in the same tank for some months now, however recently i have noticed that the smaller male (i previously thought i had 2 females 1 male but apparently not!) has sprouted some mean forked bristles and since then they have started fighting amongst themselves quite a bit. I thought they'd not damage each other too much but yesterday found that the female had a large strip of skin missing on her back and a big sucker mark on the other side.. Is this normal for the mix of 2m/1fm and do you think she'll be ok?

IMO a trio of 1m/2f works better or if breeding have a male and female in tank by themselves... hope that helps champ...

Thanks brosef just checkin to see if we're the only 2 mfk's with cannabalistic bristlenoses or if its a more widespread phenomenom.

Male Ancistrus species often fight with one another sometimes to the point of a fatality in the weaker one. Multiple males can be kept together in adaquate space with adaquate territories, however if you can't do this you may want to seperate them.
