As far as I know, there are many species of Bristlenose Catfish.

I caught several wild specimens from a local stream, and they are considerably larger than what I have seen in stores.

I have a pair of breeding albino longfins, and I was wondering if I could pair the female with one of the wild-caught males in the hopes of creating a larger albino strain within several generations.

Is this possible?

Here are a few shots of the largest.
It's in a critter-keeper for size comparison.

your albino longfins are the same as the ones you find in the wild
but that is sweet that you can find them like that

I think theirs so much in the streams that sometimes organizations have to go to the streams to scoop them out and throw em in the rubbish cans...:nilly:

The larger size is most likely due to constant food and optimum water parameters as well as reduced inbreeding. Once you weave the genes of this feral adult into your captive genepool, you'll probably find the results disappointing. However, since common BN are all hybrids and mutts as it is, I see no reason not to relieve a little of the inbreeding with some fresh blood.
