I just bought a bristlenose pleco and have a few questions. How big do they get? Is there any special care they need? I know I need to stay on top of water quality, but besides that what are their needs? Also anyone out there have pics of theirs as an adult? Thanks!

they get to around 6 inches and are pretty hardy. Some zucchinni once a week and veggie flake or pellets and your good to go.

Agreed, nowt to them really apart from a decent filter. Good luck with it.

bristlenose are probably my favorite. nothing i love more than a male with HUGE bristles. Look like monsters. I use to have a male breeder that was 5-6" that i called the kraken cuase of the amount of huge bristles they have. i never found them to be too delicate really. mines went through alot and they handled it well. I bred them a few times, they are fairly easy to be , with unstressful tank mates , a 3-4" should breed easy with little conditioning. veggies, and wafers and the occasional meaty meal and they wil be very happy.:)

mine loves to munch on shrimp pellets, sinking cichlid pellets, and zucchini. he fights of bichrs to get to the pellets lol

Give him a piece of driftwood to munch on(they love it). I feed mine New Life Spectrum Algae H20 Stable Wafers, but any type will do.

bristlenose pleco are medium size pleco.. only about 4-5" max.. usually they are either blk or the albino color..

They are relatively easy to take care of.. just regular feeding of veggies and of course driftwood.. ;)
