i would like to breed bristlenose plecs and was wondering what size tank i'd i need and at what size do they mature and start to breed

You shoudl get a 20 long or so. They should be ready to breed at around 3-4".

Depends on species. Depends on if you want 1.1 or 1.6. Search for "Ancistrus" just in this breeding forum, there is a load of info which may help decide exactly what you want if you haven't already.

i dont know if the ones they haveat my lfs are 1.1 or .6 so i just wanted to know how to set the tannk up caves, wood what and what ratio m-f

so the tank i've got for breeding them is 30x12x15 so how many males/females can i have in that tank and is bare bottom ok for them with a few clay pots but what size diameter pots do you reccomend

Ok u can do two female but try to put caves at the other end of each the tanks. The cave u wanna use should be just enough to fit both plecos but not big enough that theres room on the sides if they were both in the cave. It should be just enough for them to cram in there, also be deep as they will lay the egg in the deepest darkest part of the cave. The male will breed with both females, but there is a chance of him just end up choosing one and they chase away the other female.

so if i have a cave at either end of the tank and 1 male 2 females do they like a lot of flow or little and do you reccomend putting so bogwood in the tank as i've read they like it

why did u bumpp? anyways, ive personally never used any other filration or circulation othr than the tanks regular filter and ive never had a problem. They dont really mind flow or no flow imo. The wood really wouldnt matter for breeding really, just that yes plecos ike it but it wont make a difference.
