Bristlenose with Polys

I know that Plecos with polys are a no no, but what about bristlenoses?

I found my 4'' delhezi on the floor dead this morning, partly my fault by leave a 1'' gap at the front of the tank, but why else would it jump out?

He had a brownish patch about the size of a quarter near his belly, wondering if my bristlenose (also 4'') has been sucking on his scales?

Will be buying another poly soon, would like one thats a bit bigger though, then I dont think a BN would be a problem as they dont get any bigger themselves.

What would be best in a 4ft 65G?

among the LFS here we have:
Delhezis (4'')
Ornates (6'')
Albino sens (4-8'')

I think Ornates get too big for my tank, dels are perfect but i want a bigger one, and the albinos look disgusting...

thoughts? could I get an ornate?
It will be in with a 4'' IT.
 
I have 5x 8.5" starlight bristlenose (L182) in my tank and they are by far the most aggressive bristlenose species, but they never bother any of my bichirs or any of my fish. They keep their aggresion to other plecos and they are not really that active.

My guest the brownish patch was cause from losing slime when it started to lost some moisture when it landed.

What cause for it to jump...? Simple... as you said you did not cover the 1" gap. I won't say the pleco keep bothering it. Both are 4" and they have plenty of space. I don't see the pleco would keep chasing the bichirs as BN are not really that active.

I agree. I have a royal in with my 12 bichirs and there is no aggression at all.
You can go with an ornate and switch him out later as he grows.
But I'd suggest the Del.
 
What's the width of the the tank but yeah the Plec was the spot and the jump was the gap....Rid the Plec or get a bigger (and yes it'll be another $40-$60 USD) Delhezi and cover that space
 
Yep will cover the gap.

I found a shop that has some 6'' albino sens for approx $28USD.. wondering if an albino would grow on me
 
i breed bns and i can safely say i have never had one attack another fish.. they might have little scrapes with eachother but never with another type of fish..
 
Im picking up another del tomorrow.

Ive setup my spare 6.5g bare tank for him so I can power feed him easily (the last one had no chance really getting food in the main tank)

what sort of size would I be able to grow him out to in a 6.5? its about 1ft wide.
