That’s a bummer. Not sure about egg bound. My female stays in the tank with the male. The male stays in his cave and she roams about. When she’s ready she will approach him.

I have had lone females in tanks by themselves for over a year without dying and they are huge (fat ) but I can't imagine why developed eggs would be in a fish unless they were getting ready to spawn.
