While I was resealing my tank, I leaned on my top center-brace to get into one of the corners and "SNAP" my center-brace broke right down the middle. Do I need to get another one? If so, where do I go and how is it put on?

ps Its on a 55gallon tank

Yes, that are not just put there cos they are pretty.

Buy a piece of glass, cut away the old silicone and then glue the new one in place. Use aquarium sealant and get on with it before the tank lets go.

55 gal tanks are pretty cheap, you could just but another and swap over the mature filters.

What were you resealing in the first place?

55 gallons are super cheap and readily available on Craiglist. I would look for one on there. If you find one in rough shape, remove the trim and put it on your tank (make sure they are the same brand). You might be able to find one in good shape and just use it as your tank. You can sell the broken one for someone with a reptile.

My brother broke both braces on his 125. We bought a piece Plexiglas, cut it to fit right under the factory pieces, drilled holes in the braces and Plexiglas, and mounted them with stainless steel bolts and nuts. It did not bow at all.

I actually just bought this tank from craigslist with stand for $75. I'm resealing all the seams inside the tank because i looked as if the tank was empty for awhile and the seams were very thin/cracked.

+ 1

I have seen other tanks that have put together with a piece of glass or Plexiglas to replace the center brace.
