So a couple months ago the clear part that holds the blue clip snapped. luckely i could still kinda put it on it and still snap the blue part on to seal the water. just now i snapped another one off and not only that the blue clip actually snapped apart. So the clear bottom piece would need to be replaced and also one blue clip. is there any fix? its missing one blue clip so water will just poor all over the floor. I got this thing second hand so its not the end of the world. what about all the media? i paid good money for one whole tray of biomedia... over $50. ANy use for this thing if it cant be fixed?

Also, the tank it was on is a 90 long Festae growout.... I still have 2 AC110's up and running.. and 2 powerheads. and a 5 live plants in the tank. I have 7 festae 2-5in and a syno cat. I only plan on keeping a pair or solo and upgrading to 90reg or 180 if i get a pair. Will my filters be okay for now? forever? the xp3 i always let sit for a month or 2 because it was a huge hassle and i always spilled water all over cleaning it. the ac110's i clean out every week with my 50% water change. I know people like umbeeking only have sponge filters and it works for them?! Anyways just wanting some input and or help.

ALSO The biggest festae is getting to be a REEEAAALLL TERROR! the second largest one got its scales ripped off of its face and head today... decent damage... you can see his teeth now and he stalks and charges the other fish... no fin nipping he goes for the gusto, face and stomach assaults. Is this a bad sign of him probably not forming a pair?

I bought two xp3 for $10 that had the same issue. I went to home depot and picked up a metal hooked turnbuckle. Hooked one end on top of the xp3, and one to the bottom and tightened it up. Works just fine.

It WILL work broken, just if the power goes out it will leak all over.

My FX5 is hassle free unless it needs to be cleaned. I like just about any canister more than the XP series, but some people love them.

Planetrena.com sells parts for the XP3s, maybe you can get what ya need there.

Sold all my XP3s with the tanks they were on and upgraded the lat two I had running on the 450g. Needed more flow so went with FX5s. IMO the XP3s were much easier to deal with as opposed to the FX5s I have now.

I like the auto-prime feature of the FX5. They aren't too bad to clean if you have your media in bags. All canisters are a pain to clean IMO but I still use them. Installing a sump for my new tank with a filter sock, eager to see what I think about that as I've never run one at home. Would love to run a filter with a plumbed backwash, but out of my price range for now.
