I also posted this in the setup and filtration section but figured it can't hurt to post it here too....

I recently bought a 140 gallon(48x26x26) acrylic tank. I bought it with a broken brace on the top. I was wondering if this brace is really necessary? I'd rather trim off the edges and make it an open top. Is this ok? Other than the broken top there are no other cracks or broken parts on the tank. Thanks!!!

Weldon #4 and a bottle with a needle. It's a syringe needle. I haven't been working with acrylic for very long though, so there might be something better to use in your case. I'm not sure how you will get the pieces on and glue them back. Might take two people to do it.
