The back of one of my gars is curved at the caudal peduncle. It doesn't look like a broken back to me, as I've never seen a gar have a broken back in this area. Gar has movement in all of it's fins. It's also not ammonia poisoning. Tank has 0 ammonia, as well the other 4 gars in this tank are not showing anything. This has me thinking it might be some sort of birth defect. Tail droops down and curves slightly to the fishes left.

Very bad picture but it shows how the caudal peduncle is always.

First noticed it maybe a week or two ago, not sure.

Okay, it does seem like a weird place for a broken back and doesn't seem to be that noticeable if you just happened to notice it recently, so I agree with you on the birth defect diagnosis provided that it doesn't get any worse.

At first when I saw it I thought it was just from over eating actually. So I've been monitoring it. It isn't getting worse and doesn't really affect the gar at all. Might swim a little slower, but that's about it. I'm just glad it doesn't seem as bad the other gar I have with a birth defect.
