well this will be my 101 post so"yah me"
but back to the topic, at my lfs there is a cichlid that is black and his middle is white, it is a nice looking fish except it looks like he has a broken back or something.
he was with another of the same speices and some very aggresive african cichlid. so the guy there seperated them and the fish with the broken back was put in with some marbled hatchets
but the fish overall seems healthy except for the fact that he looks like he is swimming with his tail being pushed down, and he eats and what not

so I guess my question is would it be alright to get him or is he destined for a short terrible life?

it seems from the description that it is not affected too negatively...was this fish like this when you got it?

can u get a pic of him to post? id love to see what it looks like..

well I didn't get him YET but I would realy like to as it is very funny how he swims but it is somewhat sad
but he eats and chases the tetras and stuff around his tank at the lfs
and yes Ill try to get some pics up if I get him

ive heard of broken back but i have never seen it in person.. is it always from a drop or trauma... or is it sometimes a born with defect?

I have no idea but I know it was from an attck by another fish so Im guessing he was thrashed around or hit something pretty hard

my friends gar died of a broken back when he hit the glass really really hard. imo i think it isnt worth it ill probably live a terrible life

yeah but what would be better, a 20g or what ever or a 55g for it to spend the rest of it's days in? also I believe it has been in the for a few weeks so I am thinking its nerve damage, but Ill try and take some pics while Im there next so you guys can see what I am talking about
