:confused:I have a 55g tank that I'm going to be using as a grow out. The problem is, the center brace on it is broken right at the glass. It's broken in a way that if I wanted to, I could use sealant to re-attatch the brace to the glass and the other broken spot. Would this be enough to support the walls of the aquarium, or would there be a better way of going about this? The brace/border is siliconed to the top of the glass, so replacing the whole thing is kinda out of the question at this point, as well as buying a new tank. I only have enough money to get the filtration and substrate etc. :shakehead

If anyone has had this problem or if you have any suggestions on how to fix this, I'd really appreciate it. Pics would be amazing too if possible. ;)

show some pics

Build something like this:

______
||tank|| Use wood or if you or someone you know can weld, use metal. That would go on the outside of the tank, front and back. Might not be the most appealing thing to look at but I'm pretty sure it'll fix your problem.

Yeah pics would be good so we know exactly what you're describing. Depending on what your pics show i would say it can be resiloconed.

You can easily replace the top frame. $40 for a new one and one tube of silicone.

my glass 240 has no bracing! Its all silicone No top nor bottom brace!

Looks alot better!!
Just out of curiosity how thick is the glass and what dimensions is the tank, and how long has it been running???

Thanks for the replies. :D Unfortunately, my 5 year old decided to play photographer, and broke my camera, so right now I just have my camera phone. I'll see if I can get some clear shots with it. The way it's broken, it seems as though I could just re-silicone it back onto the glass. I thought of the brace over the top and sides as well.
