Hey guys I have a 75 gallon I picked up recently and the center brace is broken right in the middle ... Anyone have any easy fix ideas that you have used ?
My 75 is an old style one, doesn't have a center brace. We did have to put one for the cover I ordered for it. We used strips of wood molding cut to fit and wedged into place. A temporary solution, but you might be able to do that till you find get some glass cut and put into place. I said temporary, but I am still using the molding strips myself almost a year later. A cheap solution, anyway.
I'm not sure where to go about ordering a new top frame. The wood strips are showing signs of weakening, but they do hold up the light glass cover ok. One of these days, my cat is going to walk across the top one time too many. I'll hear a splash and a screech when he does. I do have replacement molding strips, just haven't gotten around putting the new ones on. I keep meaning to go see about some plastic strips, but I like the glass siliconed in place idea.
I had to remove my center brace in order to fit a 3d background in and I replaced it with a stainless steel bar with some aquarium safe silicon and a few screws.
