My prized Satanoperca Lecousticta looks like he has some how broken or dislocated his jaw. He started out hiding away and i noticed he jaw sitting slightly open and was having very short rapid gill movements, that was yesterday. Today he is moving around but he is struggling to eat and doesnt seem to be able to close his mouth to keep his food in?

Im am very gutted about this, he is one of the first fish i got since getting into the hobby nearly 2 years ago.

And advice on how to better this situation would be much appreciated.

Could that be duck lips? If so you'll need antibiotics stat, but I'm not an expert. I'd hope it's a physical problem and not a bacterial infection, because if it's the latter and it's reached this point it's difficult to cure.

What is duck lips?

I managed to get a face on shot - it looks like the right side of his face (left side fave on) is swollen?

Duck Lips is one of the manafestations of Flexibacter columnaris. The key is getting the temperature down to 75 degrees to stop the spread. Do a large 75 % water change and treat with 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons of water and Kanamycin/Furan 2 in combination. This can kill in 24 to 48 hours quick action is imperative for the fishes survival.

Im not sure this is duck lips but I done a huge water change and dosed the tank with salt and he seems a little better this morning and was able to eat again! Thanks
