Broken Heater Question

Just recieved a nice suprise electric shock when I put my hand in my 125 gallon to trim a plant.
My second heater had broken and as I was removing it, there was noticeable debris falling out of the heater, a light brown dirt-like substance.
My question is...what is this substance, and will it harm my fish?

this happened last time my heater broke, i do not know what it is but it has not harmed my fish and this hapened a few weeks ago

I had the same queastion a while back. I assume it's sand, and yes my fish are fine.
