I was building the stand for my new 75 gallon tank and on one side both of the large screws that hold the legs to the bottom shelf broke. I will not use this bottom shelf but I was just wondering if it was a problem in supporting the weight. All it changes is that it makes a little space between the legs and the bottom shelf on the left side. Please tell me if this is a problem.

I would think that having a shelf somewhere near the bottom of the legs increases stability quite a bit. maybe put another, stronger one a little higher or lower?

When you build a stand you need to "Stack" the wood. Nothing should ever bu supported by screws. The top piece should sit on TOP of the legs and then screws should just be used to hold it in place. This makes the stand MUCH MUCH MUCH stronger and will handle the load you need. If you put the legs on the side and screw them on than the screws will sag and eventually break, bend, or pull through.

Using this principal I built a stand for a 110X which is the same dimensions as your tank but taller and it held it up without effort.

PS: If this is some regular shelf/table unit for general purpose it will NOT work for this tank. You are talking about over 600 LBS! Anything bought at a non aquarium store should not be used to support more than 100!
