Broken tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If its center bracing you should check the tank for bowing.
If it stresses the tank to much it could crack.
I would try to install something to support the center of the tank.
A temporary quick fix would be a bar clamp if you happen to have one.

Tank is thrown away lol. Just a surprise to see that as I never would even think of this.

Because there are lots of earthquakes where I live, both braces have broken on my 180. Although I have had many braces break, even when I lived in non-earthquake areas.
After cracking I cut them off and replaced them with 2 C. Clamps from the hardware store, not aesthetically pleasing , but do the job, and span the width the tank.

soon they will be hidden by attached foliage, that also helps reduce nitrate..

Bar clamps have been holding my 220 together for 5 years. If you put them on when its full, be prepared for them to loosen when you do a water change. Tighten them back up, then fill it up. Used small airline to tie the braces back up so they could hold the lids.
