So I broke one of the clips on one of the XP3s. One is currently cycling on the tank. I swished around some filters from other tanks and a bunch of nasty stuff came out. I checked the amm and it was at 2 so it is cycling I guess.

My question is, with one of the clips broken would it be ok to turn on? I ordered a new clip, but it doesn't come in for a week.

1 XP3 is running fine right now on my 120, but I want the other one to get cycled also so I can get some fish ASAP.

I thought about throwing some media from the cycling filter into the uncycled when I set it up.

How can I get the filters ready for a larger bio-load?

What should I do?

Could give it a try, but watch it carefully. Another option is to not take the chance, and when the clip is in, take half the media and sponges out of the XP3 on the 120G and swap with the other XP3. 3rd option is to put the sponges and media in the tank itself, with a little current from a powerhead in the tank. The media will continue to grow bacteria colonies.

My recommendation, throw the media in the tank with a powerhead for circulation. Don't take the chance of leaks or messing up the seals.

Thanks Lonewolfblue. I was figuring along the same lines. Why invest all this time/money to risk it for something that I can wait a week for and be sure.

That is a good idea about the media in the tank, I didn't know that.

Thanks.

I have an xp2 that has the plastic "tabs" where the clip snaps in broken, and
and still seals. (knock on wood)
