Is it possible to breed a male and female form the same mum and dad and be alright?
I dont nkow what kind of cichlids i have got in my dad's fish tank but i bred them and gave them to him and i was wondering if i could pick out a random male and female and breed them?

I'l give it a go then.
Chears guys ;)

If it's 1st gen imbreeding, no problem. Many breeders use this to perpetuate certain traits they find desirable. You will see a higher deformity rate, so this should just be used as a measure to get what you want, then line-breed.

as long as you plan on keeping them for their life then anything that gets messed up will end when they die in your tank so its safe then. If you in breed and then sell or give away bad genes can be passed on.

geneticly its ok to reproduce with yer sister.. but reproducing with yer daughter... yer kids are gunna have webbed toes and no teeth....

im pretty sure the same thing goes for fish...

It may work for awhile but you need to introduce some new DNA at some point. Atleast that just seems like a good idea ha ha

At least for guppies I introduce outsider bloodlines every 3-4 generations, no problems.

it's cool i just took the darn things back there so vicous and i dont even know what kind of cichlid they were!
Traded them in for a nice little bunch of buffalo heads ;)
