How likely is it that when you buy from a LFS that the juveniles you buy are brothers and sisters? And what effects does this have if they spawn

Depends on the LFS. If it's PetSmart, 50/50 shot at it. If it is a local mom and pop shop, the probably 75% chance.
It will give them more dull colors from what iv'e been told and yeah ^^ on % of them being brother and sister.
best way to avoid this is to ask the manager of the store, they're usually keen enough to let you know what their shipment schedule is like and some even will go as far as let you know who are their suppliers, once you can establish a good repore just buy fish from different shipments.
