so iv been at war for about 3 months now with brown algae water peramiters are fine nitrate is 15ppm ph 6.5 i know phosphate is not the cause because i used phoszorb and tested for it and it came up as .25.
I do a 70% water change once a week. this nasty algae also cloggs up my filters in under two weeks. Anyone know how to get rid of it? O and by the way i also have planaria.

THIS STUFF NEEDS TO GO

Thanks in advance

doesnt matter what my pars are if i leave lights on to much i get brown algae try cutting down on light for a week or so

Whats the tank size and filtration/circulation ? What were the phosphates before the phos zorb ?

A lighting change made the brown go green.
CAE made the green go away.

been up for 5 months two pbass 12in and 8in and one 8in oscar. tank is a 125 with a fx5 and a rena xp3. also have alot of airation

I've had diatoms last for around 6-8 months after the initial setup before they disappear on their own. There's also the possibility that your source water (tap?) has silicates.

Hmm, are you getting any direct sunlight on the tank ?
How many hours do you have the light on ?

I`ve had the same problem in a couple of tanks, allmost all off them were due to lightning in some way. Color of the bulbs, sunlight, too much wattage, leaving the light on to long etc.

iv cut down on the lighting so well see if that helps the lighting is 70 watts however the room the tank is in is very bright but not in direct sunlight
