My tank has been setup for going on 8 months. I experienced a diatom bloom during setup as normal, and it went away in 2-3 months along with the addition of a bristle nosed pleco.
I removed the pleco about 2 months ago because he was getting aggressive, as well as the noticeable waste he was producing. Since then, I've noticed a return of brown algae. I cut down on feeding, and the lighting schedule, but it still remains. Not sure what else I can do.

29g

-two AquaClear 50 filters packed with biomax
-T5NO dual lamp fixture w/ 2x18w 6700k bulb timer is for 11 am - 5 pm, and 9 pm - midnight. I've already tried full 12, 10, 9, 8, 7 hour schedules for a few days to a few weeks and noticed no difference. First time trying split schedule.
-5 different types of swords and 2 crypt wendtii, root tabs near each, no other liquid fertilizers
-3 ml excel dosed daily
-8 tetras/1 firemouth fed once a day, ~20 seconds so normally just a pinch of NLS pellets
-weekly 33-50% water changes
-temp @ 80f

Some of the algae in question.
