I'm curious about what temperatures and food a brown bullhead needs.

This guy near me has two brown bullheads and a channel cat in a 10G and I want to take the bullheads but I don't know if I can accomodate them.

Whats teh minimum - maximum temperatures that they need? What size do they get?

Thanks,

they can life in water freezing cold to water up in the 70 s they're very hardy and can survive out of water for awhile

59 - 82.4 °F

you can find some info on the bullhead here: http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=brownbullhead

Great cat but you need to have a good size tank for them. they need the room to swim.

What cichlids? You might be able to cool your tank down a little depending on what's in it. What size tank and now many of what are already in it?

The bullheads rarely exceed 14" in the aquarium and are, aside from needing cooler temps, really easy and nifty fish to have around.

Hm definitely a no go then. I only have one tank with Cichlids in it. 80 is probably to warm for them.
they could probably take 80

Probably, but if he's just got some CA cichlids or other likewise hardy individuals, I'd say drop the temp to around 77ºF as a compromise.

Check the pH and hardness of the place your bullhead comes from. I wouldn't expect a bullhead from soft water to thrive in rift lake super hard water at high temperatures. Unless his natural habitat is heavy mineralized.

Bullheads of the Brown Black and Yellow variety are very hardy on temps and water quality....they should be able to live in Ph of 5-8, and temps just like kOyOte quoted 59-82 degrees as long as theyre are no drastic changes all at once . They live in a city park not far from where I live in which the water gets in the 80s every summer and is Iced over every winter and the water is not over 5ft deep in the whole lake.
