Brown hairs coming off roots?

I just got my tank cycled and have started stocking it with plants. I am using a fine crushed gravel as substrate since no one locally carries flourite or eco-complete. Don't really have an ID on the plants. Just ones the LFS said are hard. They seem to be since I have roots growing everywhere with new blooms/stems also. I am getting this brown hairy looking film on the roots. Don't know if this is normal or some sort of algae.

Could be algae, could be small roots.

they are so small that it looks like fuzz. the main roots are white but this has a brown color. I think it may be some hair algae. How do i get rid of it?

I have the same thing it's most likely roots... Also depends which part of the roots its growing on

aye new root structure is brown as it is concerned with growing to a certain size instead of nutrient absorbtion
